Findlay, Ohio is notorious for being located in a flood zone. It’s important to ask about flood zones when looking for homes in the area, and if you do live in a flood zone, it’s a great idea to have flood insurance. Although SERVPRO® of Hancock County would be more than happy to help you with any water damage that you may have due to flooding, we’d like to share some advice with our readers about flooding in our area, and what you can do about it.
We’ve recently experienced a warm spell after a great amount of snow and are expecting this next weekend quite a bit of rainfall, which has and will result in a large amount of basements to flood, both in and around the Hancock County area. Even after the rainfall has stopped, you’re still noticing a higher amount of water in your home. What’s happening? The ground around your home is still soft and saturated with water. When something reaches it’s highest level of saturation, the liquid tries to find a way out. In this case, the ground is holding water, in which it wants to get rid of, so the water can seep into your home through tiny cracks in the foundation.
The best way to prevent this problem is to have a contractor take a look at your home’s foundation, and consider having any issues fixed. Once you notice water in your home, it’s important that you call us immediately at 419-299-3774. If you have flood or home insurance, then we can help you make a claim and process that with your insurance company as thoroughly as possible. We're available 24/7 for all your emergency needs!
